BA#8

Warm up: If I could write a feature story about a place, I would write about Celebration Station.  I would write about Celebration Station because it is my favorite place to go for cheap ice cream.  According to http://www.celebrationstation.com/index.php?location_id=1&PHPSESSID=aeae991529dcd6fa8f033a7ec63cf0ad C.S. has great birthday parties, coupons, and even gift certificates.  I went there for my birthday and I had a blast.  According to http://www.celebrationstation.com/index.php?location_id=1&section_id=1#top C.S.'s game room features over one hundred video games. Their game selection is amazing and includes air hockey, pool tables, go karts, alley rollers, interactive games, prize cranes and more.

BA#8: 5 paragraph feature story:
According to http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/historyover 200 years ago the White House was built. It was built as a symbol of Presidency. The construction of the house started in the October of 1792.  President George Washington never lived in it because they didn't finish the house until 1800. The first president to live in it was President John Adams. It has housed over 40 presidents in the past. George Washington and city planner Pierre L'Enfant chose the place for the house to be. The house's address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. According to http://www.whitehouse.gov/about/history there was a competition to help find a builder of the White House. Nine people were submitted and an architect named James Hoban won a gold medal for his design.
People have debated over the name of it and called it,"President's Palace," "President's House," and,"Executive Mansion."  President Theodore Roosevelt gave it the name "White House." There are 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and 6 levels in the house. There are also 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators. This is a BIG house. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House, it also has a tennis court, a single lane bowling alley, a movie theater, a  jogging track, a swimming pool, and a putting green. About 5,000 visitors come each day.

According to http://www.whitehouse.gov/, The White House has 5 full time chefs. The White House is able to serve dinner to as many as 140 guest and serve appetizers to more than 1,000 guests. The chef's name is Cristeta Comerford. According to http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/09/cristeta-comerford-to-rem_n_156737.html and http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/01/05/iron-chefs-and-healthy-eatingshe was also the chef for President Bush. She also versed Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America. She didn't win but she did make a great meal.

Some pets have also been presidential. Barack Obama and his family have a pet Portuguese water dog. His name is Bo. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_(dog), Bo was born October 9, 2008 and is 2 and almost 3(in dog years he is 14 and almost 21). The dog was given to them as a pet as a gift. His breed is very rare though. He is a good pet to all of the Obamas.

Some fun facts about the White House are:The White House requires 570 gallons of paint to cover its outside surface. There are a total of 50 entries and only 30 are regularly used.  If I were to visit the White House, I would go to the gift shop and buy souvenirs for my friends. Then I would take a tour of the whole building. I would have lots of fun!
