MID TERM EXAM#2

The series I chose to do a summary on is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.  The series includes six books. Jeff Kinney, the author, also wrote a ‘Do-It-Yourself’ book so people who read the books can make one kind of like it by their self. The series got started on Funbrain.com in 2004. According to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid website, the online book is different than the printed series but, they still share several similarities. The first three printed books are based on the online book but, still are different.
The books are about a boy named Greg Hefley and his friend Rowley Jefferson. Greg has a big brother: Rodrick, a little brother: Manny, a mom, and a dad. Rodrick is in a band called Loaded Diaper and he is very goth-ish. Manny is about five or six years old and he some how annoys Greg by being a kid. His parents are somewhat normal and sometimes embarrassing.
Throughout the first book, Greg and Rowley struggle at school with starting middle school and fearing the CHEESE TOUCH. On the blacktop at his school, there is this really old piece of cheese that is moldy and no one wants to touch it but, someone has touched it and every one hides from that person in fear of the cheese touch. At the end of the story Greg and Rowley get bullied into eating it so now they have the ‘touch’. In the second book, it about how Rodrick teases Greg and how they have a huge talent show. The third book is about Greg's father, his soccer team he used to be on, and Spaig union. The fourth book is about Greg's summer vacation, and the fifth book is about Greg facing growing up pressures. The sixth book is about how Greg and Rowley accidentally vandalize their school and think the cops are coming after them.

MID TERM EXAM#1

According to time magazine, the company, Apple, picked the “Best” iPhone and iPad games of 2011. Some people may have thought that the game of the year in the U.S. would be Angry Birds, but actually it didn’t. The game that did win is called Tiny Tower. It is a real-time tower-building and time management game by NimbleBit. Angry birds did win the top selling game though.
Some of the top ten games were Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Season, Cut the Rope, Doodle Jump, Fruit Ninja, Tiny Wings, and Tiny Tower (not in that order). The game of the year in Europe is Tiny Wings. That game is about a bird with very tiny wings. He is in a small world filled with tall hills and steep drops. When people play that, they have to guide the little bird up and down the hills to go faster. Runner-ups to this game in Europe were Tiny Tower and To-Fu 2.
On the iPad, U.S.’s pick was Dead space. In Europe it was Contre Jour. Contre Jour is a physics puzzler with creepy, artistic graphics. Time magazine has also set a bar for the best games and apps on the iPhone. The games are Angry Birds(of course), Scrabble, Plants vs. Zombies, Doodle Jump, Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope, and many more. The ‘on the go’ apps are Kayak, Yelp, World Lens, Weather Channel, Open Table, and a few more.

BA#22

A Teen’s Take
Claire Young says,” I love being a junior volunteer! I like knowing that I can make a difference in my town, even at my age.” She is volunteering at woman’s hospital at only age 14. It is her first year in the Junior Volunteer program there. She has been placed in the GYN/Oncology Department for her first two rotations. The program is for high school students in Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes.
Ashley Slario says,“I love volunteering at Woman’s Hospital every summer. It gives me an opportunity to work as a nurse or a doctor. I would really like to become a doctor when I grow up.” She is seventeen and she is also volunteering at Woman's Hospital (just like Claire). It is her fourth year in the program as well. She was placed in the Maternal/Fetal Medicine department for her first two rotations.
Caroline Schulenberg says,“Being a part of the Baton Rouge Ballet Theater’s ‘Nutcracker’ is truly an amazing experience and something I am very passionate about. I have been a cast member of the ‘Nutcracker’ since I was 8 years old, and I have come a long way since my role as a little lamb, but getting where I am today definitely did not come easy. It takes countless hours of training, dedication and hard work. With the amount of time I spend at the studio, it begins to feel like a second home with an incredible group of dancers and teachers that have become my family.” She is very dedicated to theater and she will probably get far with that dream. She is seventeen and she has been there for almost ten years.

BA#20- America

Past-

In the past they had some things that we have now, but they are much better upgraded. Some are the T.V., the computer, the typewriter, and the phone. We have also some great history in the past. The history is like when we won the World War 2, when Christopher Columbus showed up, and when we got our first president. These pictures represent some of the many things we had in the past. We also had some great things happen when we got our first colored movie and when the Beatles came and started to preform their music.
Present-
Today the president is Barack Obama. We have better refrigerators, computers, T.V.s, and phones. We also have toy robots. wehave CDplayers. In 2000 our twin towers got burned down to dust and more than 50 people died. We have better movies like The Karate Kid. We also have better music artists like Mandisa.
Future-
In the future, I believe there will be lazer ovens and refrigerators without a door. I believe there will also be eye cameras amd fimgernail watches. There will be flat computers and smelly T.V.s. On the IPhone there will be a keyboard that will come in a lazer. There will robotic legs. The future will be awesome.
